About AbolitionNC

AbolitionNC began as a small prayer group at Westover Church in 2008, and within 10 years became a North Carolina Non-Profit organization on behalf of Human Trafficking victims and survivors. Since its beginning, AbolitionNC has been a calling from God to raise awareness and compassion for the tragic reality of modern day slavery. Our focus has always been to prayerfully follow God’s leading to be his hands and feet to those who have suffered and to prevent the exploitation of future generations. We consider prayer, community education, honorable collaboration, and humble service to be key components of our work in the past and in all future endeavors.

OUR APPROACH

Awareness:

  • Plan and participate in Anti-Human Trafficking awareness events

  • Educate and equip communities in North Carolina through school curriculum and presentations

  • Collaborate and partner with businesses, law enforcement, government officials, churches, as well as other nonprofits to educate as many people as possible

Prevention:

  • Educate youth through curriculum resources and presentations using a trauma-informed approach

  • Develop and provide curriculum and lessons for use in schools, at little to no cost, across North Carolina

  • Actively share our mission and local resources through social media, newsletters, and community events to make those at risk and who have become victims aware of resources available to them
